Virtual Reality Experience
New this year at the 5th Animal Film Festival a session will be devoted to Virtual Reality. The organization Direct Action Everywhere (DxE) is providing up to 100 Virtual Reality headsets that will be distributed to the audience during a special session in the Off Center Stage theater at the Center for the Arts. The session will begin at 6:15 pm. Once each audience member is fitted with a VR headset and headphones, the experience of saving two tiny piglets from an industrial farm will begin. This VR experience is included with the General Admission ticket.
Join investigators with DxE's Open Rescue Network on a full 360-degree mission inside the largest pig farm in the country - Smithfield's Circle Four in Utah, also known as The Deathstar. You'll see the reality of the life of a mother pig in a "crate-free" farm and experience the rescue and liberation of a dying piglet named Lily, as covered by Glenn Greenwald's The Intercept and the New York Times!
Virtual reality (VR) is a computer technology that uses virtual reality headsets or multi-projected environments, sometimes in combination with physical environments or props, to generate realistic images, sounds and other sensations that simulate a user's physical presence in a virtual or imaginary environment.
